The Geomatics Laboratory at the University of Pavia develops methods and tools to acquire, process and interpret geospatial information. Our research combines rigorous measurement with digital technologies to describe the built and natural environment, understand change and support informed decisions.
Our activities span surveying and GNSS positioning, aerial and UAV photogrammetry, LiDAR surveying, satellite remote sensing, and GIS and WebGIS. Data quality assessment runs across these areas: we investigate accuracy, reliability and data integration to ensure that the resulting products meet the requirements of their intended applications.
We work on the three-dimensional reconstruction of buildings and urban environments, the development of digital twins, the monitoring of land and infrastructure, and the analysis of environmental and agricultural data. Our geospatial expertise also supports research into the relationships between environment and health, alongside the development of interactive mapping tools for exploring complex phenomena.
Our research is carried out through national and European projects and collaborations with universities, public bodies and industry. Working across disciplines allows us to address practical needs, develop new methods and transfer research findings into applications.
The Projects and Publications sections present the laboratory’s research initiatives and scientific outputs.
